About the Artist

Born in Seoul, Korea, Erica Weiss immigrated to the United States at age 15 with her family.  She earned her Bachelor of Fine and Applied Arts degree in Graphic Design from the University of Akron in 1982 and has continued her studies in interior design, metalsmithing and painting.

Her artistic career began by creating display designs for several major department stores, including Higbee’s in Cleveland and Marshall Field’s in Chicago.  After holding various positions in the retail industry, Weiss spent much of her time continuing her study in art and working as a freelance artist.

Her work has been exhibited in numerous art shows and several of her paintings have been on display at the Weatherhead School of Management (architect: Frank Gehry) at CWRU.  Her work is acquired by art collectors from all over the United States.  Weiss’ work can be found at Juma Gallery, a retail art gallery owned by the artist, located in the historic Little Italy art district on Cleveland’s Eastside.

The paintings of Erica Weiss expresses individualism and flair by utilizing vivid, lush contemporary work to more of a tranquil minimalism.  With an array of mixed media, color and love for geometric design, Erica’s work highlights her zest for life and by doing so showcases the artist’s true creativity.
